French Transferware Soup Bowl

French Transferware Soup Bowl

This lovely vintage French soup bowl is from the manufacturer Hte Boulenger & Cie,as stamped on the bottom. The pattern is called "Villars"with a soft blue transferware pattern of plants and greenery. The edge is scalloped with a raised curlicue design. Very nice deep bowl for soup or stew and a charming presence on the table.

This bowl has a few reminders of it's age. Along the edge there are some sections where there are brown markings and there is crazing and crackling throughout the piece. There are no significant chips but there are a few small blemishes along the outside rim. Your eye does not really see them but they are present when you run your hand along the rim.

I love this piece. It displays well and also would function in your farmhouse kitchen like a charm! I also included some pictures with the other two blue bowls available to show you how well they work as a "mis-matched" set!

6 1/2" diameter at the top of the bowl
