Young People's Bible Game

Young People's Bible Game

What a find! This vintage Bible Game from Parker Brothers includes the original box, the instructions, a complete set of 36 cards and the sales slip from December 9, 1921. I suspect some lucky child received this as a Christmas present that year! The top of the box illustrates the story of David and Goliath, in color. The remainder of the items are neutral colored card stock or paper with black type. The sales slip is from Gelino Bros in Kankakee Illinois; a lithograph of the building is on the back of the document.

All the parts are in excellent condition, considering the age and likely usage by younger people. The cards and top and bottom of the box are in-tact with no ripping or taping of the corners. There are many marks, scratches and discoloration spots on all parts of the box and on many of the cards. The cards are soft pink on the back of the heavier card stock. The SKU number of 8478 and price of $.35 is written in pencil on the back of the box. The Directions sheet has a discoloration mark across the top left hand corner but is very legible.

The Directions for playing the Bible Game are as follows:

This game may be played by any number of persons, although it is better to have at least three.

One is chosen as a leader.

The leader takes all the cards, and selecting one, reads the descriptive matter under one of the titles, pausing at the end of each paragraph to give each player in turn a chance to name the subject.

The one naming it correctly takes the card and the leader reads another. This continues until all the cards are used.

The one winning the most cards wins the game, and is leader next time.

The game may be almost endlessly varied in ways easily suggested by the bright boys and girls for whom it is intended.
