German Lusterware Garden Scene Dish

German Lusterware Garden Scene Dish

This is such a fine little piece of vintage Bavarian German porcelain from CICO Germany. These pieces were made in the 1940's and were hand painted with elaborate scenes reminiscent of Bible stories. This one makes me think of the Garden of Eden. Quite Victorian in design the garden scene has a man, woman and child at the center and an elaborate border of green and yellow with gold filigree. The original intended use of this dish was for an ash tray based on the two resting spots on each end. I think it still would be charming as a trinket dish on a desk or kitchen counter, or on the nightstand as a ring dish. Another Estate sale treasure I couldn't resist!

In beautiful condition with the original Green emblem on the bottom that indicates CICO Made in Germany. Bavaria is printed on the piece beneath the emblem. There is one very small chip on the bottom right hand side that a little gold paint would rectify!
