Do you have someone in your life who is graduating this year and appreciates vintage art? What a charming depiction of the next steps in life on the point of graduation, presented in a 1911 watercolor painting. I am calling this piece, "The Decision". Represented in the painting is a beautiful young lady still wearing her graduation cap and gown, wrestling with "what comes next". In her hand is a book representing academia and career and on the table in front of her is a beautiful boxed bouquet of roses. Which path will she choose?

This piece was painted in 1911 as noted by the painter's initials (MKG) and dating. It represents the narrow paths that were available to women of that generation, and is a celebration of how that is no longer an either/or for women today! I find it charming and would proudly display it next to my diploma!

The piece is painted in soft colors with the black graduation cap and robe contrasting with the delicate pink of the roses. It is complimented by a neutral mat and a period wood frame with brown paper wrapping and black accents.

The frame is in nice condition with roughness in the paper covering on all four corners and in a few spots along the edge. The corners are still tight. The piece is under glass and there is a spot of water damage on the matting in the lower right hand and some aging of the color. The back is aged cardboard. There is a hanging wire.

All in all an amazing storytelling piece that is over 100 years old!
