This could not be more charming! An antique (1880s) Knowles Taylor and Knowles Iron Stone China pitcher in the Moss Rose pattern, a common pattern of that time period. Moss Rose patterns and colors vary between different manufacturers but in general they work well together. You can see it in the photo above with another Moss Ross pitcher available at Warmth & Cheer.

The smaller profile of the pitcher would make it so handy for using in the kitchen and it would be the perfect compliment for a spray of spring flowers. I also thought it would be super sweet for a Valentine's Day display. It has a unique square shape to the base and a pretty scalloped top rim and handle. The Moss Rose design on the front side covers the majority of the area, on the back side there is a smaller spray of roses.

The back stamp on the piece is very clear and dates the production in the 1880s, I believe. It states Iron Stone China with the Eagle Trade Mark in the center and Knowles, Taylor and Knowles underneath. Knowles Taylor and Knowles was an American pottery company located in East Liverpool Ohio between 1854 and 1931.

Hard to believe it is in such nice condition; all edges are free of cracks and chips. There is considerable crazing in the background of the larger design side, on the inside of the spout and at the base, both inside and out. The gold painted trim line for the top rim has rubbed off considerably. The hand painted moss rose design has some areas where some of the pink is missing on the larger design. Really clean on the smaller design.
