This is an original work of art by Frank E. Ackerman, listed California artist. The piece is a beautiful winter scene watercolor showing a farmstead nestled in the foothills with a stand of trees at the center and a snowy field in front. The piece has excellent technique and is signed lower right, "Ackerman". The piece has a nice dark blue mat surrounding the image and a substantial gold metal frame.
My research tells me this is likely a piece by Frank E. Ackerman. Bio found as follows: “Frank Ackerman (1933-1986) Born in Los Angeles, Frank Ackerman was a watercolorist, illustrator and graphic artist and also taught watercolor painting. He was born in Los Angeles and studied at the Chouinard Art Institute where he began painting with watercolors and later exhibited with the California Watercolor Society. He spent several years in the army and then studied with Rex Brandt and Ed Reep.”
A special touch on this piece are the inscriptions from to girls to their father on the back, dated Aug. 84 -
