Enhance your home or office with this amazing original painting today. You can be an art collector and create the most amazing gallery wall with pieces like this. This compelling piece is a masterfully executed original watercolor painting of a hay field during haying season, most likely from Canadian farm land. It deserves prime placement above a mantle, master bed, study, or office or would be a great fine art gift idea for any occasion.

F. Nicholas is signed in lower left corner. I believe this to be a one of a kind original painting by Nova Scotia artist Fred Nicholas. The style and signature match that of his other works listed on the secondary market. It also has the texture and nonlinear edges of an original, plus a signature on the front. As is the case with most pieces of vintage art procured at estate sales and vintage stores, a Certificate of Authenticity is not available.

The painting itself is in excellent vintage condition, no noticeable marks or scuffs. The matting around the piece is also still quite clean and creamy white. The front is covered with glass and the back has brown backing paper and a hanging wire. The back is stamped The Four Winds Antiques & Picture Framing 1 Robinson St Oakville

The frame is in very nice vintage condition. It is wood with an intricate beaded edge and an antique white painted finish. There is a beveled edge on the inside of the frame. Professionally framed with high quality techniques. There is some surface scuffing on the front of the frame and both of the bottom corners have some usage marks.

This piece was found at an Estate Sale of a avid art collector and the details are incredible. You feel the impending change of season and the promise of plenty the hay represents for a long winter ahead.

The biographical information on this artist I have found is as follows:

He also studied at the Illustration Course Press School of Art, London and took summer classes at Mount Allison University, Sackville, New Brunswick. He was first president of the Amherst Art Association, Amherst, Nova Scotia. He exhibited with the Nova Scotia Society of Artists from 1942 through 1972 and with the Maritime Art Association. Watercolors were his primary medium. Many of his paintings are scenes in Cumberland County, Nova Scotia. He also liked sketching on Grand Manan Island, New Brunswick.
