Vintage Pioneer Village Hearth Broom, Blue Handle

Vintage Pioneer Village Hearth Broom, Blue Handle

$33.00
I stumbled across this broom at an Estate sale and was so happy when I spied the Pioneer Village tag! I know these are collectible and the colors and craftmanship of this piece are certainly unique!

The bottom bristles are dark brown and they are attached to the wooden shaft with a bright red cord and two metal bands What a wonderful piece to add to the hearth! The wooden shaft has been painted in a folk art style in blue. The original tag is attached “Pioneer Village Minden Nebraska.” There is a leather strap at the top of the handle for hanging.

Between the color and the craftsmanship this is a great piece of vintage Americana! Wikipedia tell us - Pioneer Village is a museum and tourist attraction along U.S. Highway 6 in Minden, Nebraska, United States. Pioneer Village was founded in 1953 (71 years ago) by Harold Warp, a Chicago manufacturer of Flex-O-Glass, who was born near Minden. In 1983, Warp donated the museum to the nonprofit Harold Warp Pioneer Village Foundation. The museum comprises a complex of 28 buildings on 20 acres (81,000 m2) with a total collection of over 50,000 items. The museum has a large collections of items from 1830 to the present, including frontier buildings; early cars (more than 350 are on display) and airplanes; a Wurlitzer Caliola; tractors and other farm implements; and an art collection.

Everything is in very nice, vintage condition. The tag is coming a bit loose. There is a rub spot on the top of the handle. Some of the top bristles are a bit broken where the straw attaches to the handle. Really display worthy - and it would keep the hearth clean!
