Vintage Reproduction Paya Toy Ramper Cart with Key from 1934 Mold

My parents owned a Collectibles and Toy store back in the 1990s. They had a wonderful assortment of collectible stuffed animals and folk art toys, but too many to keep now that they have retired. I will be listing quite a few items from their collection over the next few weeks so stay tuned if you are a collector of cute or collectible things!

Wow! What a wonderful set of Reproduction tinplate ramp cart driver from Paya of Spain. The design and construction comes from the original set from 1934 entitled Ramper Cart. It comes in the original packaging from 1993 with the front label indicating Reproduccion Juguete Paya Ref 952 Carrito Ramper - 1934 (Reproduction Toy - Paya Toy Model 952 Ramper Cart - 1934)

Included in the box is the working model that was issued in 1993. It is # 2,017 of 5,000 limited edition pieces. This information is contained on the Certificate of Ownership included in the box.

He's a funny little (almost clown like) driver in a ramper cart that is purposely made to wobble when moving. The wheels are off center of the axels so it wobbles back and forth when moving. (See video below) The details are incredible, the colors are bright primary. and would be such an amazing addition to your tin toy collection.

He is in really nice condition having been stored in the original box since the 1990s and seems to be in untouched condition. He is a bit dusty.

Here is a summary of the background of these "toys" and the company that made them that I found in my research:

The Paya Company was founded in 1902 by Rafael Paya, the local smith. Four years later Rafael's sons Pascual, Emilio and Vincente built the first toy factory in Spain and by the 1920s Paya's toys were considered the equal of then great and famous toy makers to the north.

Not only was Paya quality the equal of Marklin of Germany, but Paya's colours and imprints were graphically more interesting, precise and bolder. The 1930s, with Raimundo Paya at the helm, was the time of great expansion. This was when the famous Bugatti race car was made. In 1946, Paya once again started making toys. In 1985, Lino made the decision to remake all of the classic old litho tinplate toys on a very limited basis. The production of each was limited to 5,000 (or less) world-wide. Of the 2000 toys manufactured by Paya between 1906 to 1940, a total of 50 historic models have been recovered. These are now made in series with an issue limit of 5000 numerated pieces, accompanied by their certificates of authenticity.
