Vintage Etched Aluminum Casserole Dish with Top and Pyrex Bowl

Most aluminum serve ware was made from the 1930s to the 1950s, before plastics were widespread. I am happy that we are circling back to using these products again as plastics are falling out of fashion. These durable yet attractive pieces were perfect for picnics and outdoor barbecues and just dressed up whatever casserole they contained. This 1950s era aluminum serve ware piece: we have a large water jug, a casserole dish, a bread basket and a serving tray available.

This is a beautifully made decorative covered casserole dish made from aluminum that is decorated with a wonderful banded leaf trim on the sides of the dish and the top of the lid, a spiral top handle and side ring grips. The edge of the lid is crimped. It has a Pyrex glass bowl 683-B-023-623-B. I am not sure that is the original bowl that came with the casserole dish but it fits well.

The design and quality of the piece matches other similar pieces that were from the time of their popularity. This is very well made with a fully embossed design, evident by the design being raised on the interior surface and indented on the underside. This piece has a shiny aluminum finish.

There are quite a few surface scratches as would be expected for its age and material. The Pyrex bowl also has many scratches from use but no chips or cracks. Everything would benefit from a thorough cleaning.

The only markings on the piece is on the bottom of the Pyrex bowl.
