This Norweigan tole painted wooden matchstick holder is a really cute throw back to the folk art themes that emerged in the 1960's. It has a bright red background with a floral design on the front in green, gold and white. It is a very simple piece, but it captures your eye, in its presentation. Useful too - it stores longer (11") matches and keeps them at the ready in the kitchen, back porch, laundry room, or other places that a light is needed.

The holder is a narrow wooden tube that stands on its own securely and also has a small silver triangular hook on the back for hanging from a nail or brad. You could also hang it from some twine. It is made from hard wood and is hand painted. The back has a sticker Made in Norway 190. The bottom has a spot where the remnants of another sticker that no longer has any visible writing.

It is in over all very good condition with just a few very small scuff marks in the red background. The design is really clean.
