Vintage Shenango China Restaurant Ware White Serving Platter

Vintage Shenango China Restaurant Ware White Serving Platter

$24.00
A perfectly chunky white platter and early piece of restaurant ware history from Shenango China. These were made from the 1930s through the early 1950s and is a piece of one of Shenango's main product lines of Incaware, which was produced for commercial use in diners and restaurants. The markings on the bottom are green and they indicate Shenango China, New Castle, PA, USA P-11 with an illustration of a Native American painting a dish. P-11 signifies 1953.

This platter is really nice condition with no cracks or chips. There are a few slight discoloration marks on the bottom and a few slight usage marks on the top. There is one small spot of the beginning of a flea bite on the back.

History of the company I found in my research:

Shenango China was one of the leading American dinnerware manufacturers from the 1920’s until the late 1980’s. The company, headquartered in New Castle, Pennsylvania, absorbed many of its competitors. Shenango dinnerware is easily identified using the back stamp (corporate identification placed on the back or underneath part of the ceramic dish) featuring Native Americans involved in various forms of pottery production.
