This complete set of 4 volumes of Audels Masons and Builders Guides ( No. 1 - 4) from 1927 are so special! The title page of each of the volumes describes these books to be, "A Practical Illustrated Trade Assistant and Ready Reference for Master Plumbers, Journeyman and Apprentices, Steam Fitters, Gas Fitters and Helpers, Sheet Metal Workers and Draughtsmen, Master Builders and Engineers. Explaining in Practical, Concise Language and by Well Done Illustrations, Diagrams, Charts, Graphs and Pictures the Principles of Modern Plumbing Practice".
Each of the volumes was produced by Frank D. Graham - Chief and Thomas J. Emery - Associate. They were published by the Theo. Audel & Co. 65 West 23rd Street, New York, USA. Copyright 1925 or 1926. Printed in the United States. First Editions.
Each guide begins with a Foreword, Outline of Chapters, Ready Reference Guide and a Ready Reference Index. They have forest green leatherette covers, gold paper edges and graphics on the bindings. The fronts of the covers are impressed with the title of each guide. The leatherette covers makes the books practical for use as the pages and cover are very flexible. This is like the 1920s version of You Tube How to Videos! Full of illustrations, photographs and practical presentations on how to perform as a Plumber with style. The bindings identified which broad categories are covered in each volume.
They are in wonderful, antique condition. Some corner and edge ruffling and creasing on the binding from use. No extraneous writing. No breaks in the bindings. No missing pages. Pages have darkened with age. No off odors.
These belong on the shelf or mantel in the office of a craftsman. What a one-of-a-kind gift. Very, very special.
