The first thing that came to mind when I saw this 1950s "The Caine Mutiny Courtmartial" Play Program was - amazing - Henry Fonda and Lloyd Nolan were on the stage of the Michigan State College Auditorium in 1953! Who knew! I am a graduate of Michigan State University, the modern day evolution of Michigan State College and our claim to fame when I attended was the 1979 NCAA Basketball championship!

This program is amazingly preserved and really display worthy. The heavy cardboard cover depicts a naval ship on rough seas and has head shots of Henry Fonda, John Hodiak and Lloyd Nolan. The back is full gold. There are 8 double sided pages inside the program on heavy paper stock with portraits of the key actors and pictures of action scenes. The full text of the cover is:

This play was based on the Pulitzer Prize winning novel of 1951, by Herman Wouk. In 1954 is was made into a film in which Humphrey Bogart played the main role of Captain Queeg, the skipper of the Caine. In this version of the play, Lloyd Nolan played the same role. This program was for that stage version and inside you can see photos of the play which takes place in the court room.

Also included is the leaflet from Michigan State College detailing the Cast of Characters , a synopsis of Act I and Act II and Staff and Stage Notes. The program is dated December 3, 1953.

All the pieces display well, or could be used for collages, art projects, scrapbook backgrounds.
