I spy items all the time that end up making perfect components for gift sets. This is a perfect example. The set includes a 1951 Little Golden Book "Two Little Gardeners" hardcover picture book, a vintage Ohio Art metal watering can that has an amazing "match" with the characters in the book and a small set of LEGO® pieces with a gardening theme. 1 - The vintage hardcover children's Little Golden Book titled "Two Little Gardeners" is by Margaret Wise Brown and Edith Thacher Hurd with illustrations by Gertrude Elliott, published by Western Publishing Company. The story features two little gardeners who plant a garden in the spring, tend to it all summer, and pick the vegetables when they are ripe. Children will enjoy this story of a young brother and sister who plant seeds that will result, after much hard work and patience, in a bountiful garden! It teaches that good things come to those who wait, and features a little song at the end of the book: "Fit As a Fiddle". In good condition considering its vintage age. This book is almost 70 years old! The first page has a tear that has been taped. The cover is scuffed around the edges and has bumped corners. Pages show some reading wear with a few creases and smudges. The binding is solid. No writing on the pages or missing pages. The book is very charming and has darling, darling illustrations! Dimensions: 6 3/4" x 8"

2 - An absolutely fantastic vintage metal children's watering can, made by the Ohio Art Company in the early 1970s, this piece is a wonderful collector's item and amazing décor piece. It looks like it was made to be a companion to the two little gardeners featured in the Margaret Wise Brown book included in this set. The can features vibrant colors and graphics including the sweetest little guy and gal in the flower garden with their pets and bees and butterflies fluttering about. The spout and handle have green accents. The can is in good vintage condition, but does show signs of its age with oxidation and rust. It is marked on the bottom Ages 2 to 6 Years. Dimensions: 9" to top of handle x 11" handle to spout x 5 1/4" wide

The Ohio Art Company was started in 1908 by Dr. Henry S. Winzeler, a dentist in Archibold, Ohio, who sold his practice because he was convinced novelty manufacturing held great promise for him. Renting part of a band hall and employing 15 women, the company was soon shipping picture frames to all parts of the country, as well as Canada and Mexico. Business grew rapidly and expansion began. When WWI halted the flow of German toys to the country, Dr. Winzeler increased his line of toys and toy parts and business boomed. In the early 1930s, Ohio Art was one of the very first companies to license a character from Walt Disney for a toy - Steam Boat Willie - the precursor to Mickey Mouse! One of the reasons for the company's success is its outstanding reputation for quality metal lithography, begun in the company's early history. In addition to toys, the lithography division continues to be recognized for its commitment to innovative, high quality metal decorating.

3 - A few little LEGO® pieces that were designed to be an add-on to the Garden Bunnies or Barn Folding Box Playsets. The set comes with everything seen in the photos, including a bunny, a barrel, a carrot, strawberries, a white picket fence, brown baseplates for the soil and various pieces to plant your own garden. All pieces in this set are genuine LEGO® parts. Some pieces may have minor signs of use.
