I spy items all the time that end up making perfect components for gift sets. This is a perfect example. I thought this would be a fun gift set for a young child, or adult, in your life that was obsessed with farms or tractors. It could also work well as a end of year Teacher Gift for someone that appreciates a vintage vibe and teaches on this topic. The set includes a 1948 Little Golden Book "A Year on the Farm" hardcover picture book and two play tractors. It would easy to wrap up in a box and present with a heartfelt handwritten note.
The set incudes:
1 - A Year On The Farm by Lucy Sprague Mitchell and Illustrated by Richard Floethe. This is one of the first Little Golden Books from Simon & Schuster, Copyright 1948. A rare storybook that details the busy life of a family on a farm throughout the year with the most incredible pictures by Richard Floethe. The back page is a poem that summarizes the year on a farm. The book cover has light wear. The binding is in great structural shape but the bottom left hand corner has the paper ripped off. Some of the pages inside have age spots but there are no ripped or loose pages. No writing on the pages. No missing pages. Darling, darling illustrations! Measures 6 3/4" x 8"
2 - Vintage Fisher Price Little People Red and Yellow tractor from the Little People Play Family Farm set with a Little People Farmer character with a yellow cowboy hat. These were popular in the 1970s. No stickers remain on the tractor and there is usage marks on the wheels but in great condition otherwise. The face on the farmer is really sweet. Measures - 3 1/4" tall (to top of hat) x 4" long x 3 3/4" across back wheels.
3 - Green metal New Ray tractor with black plastic wheels and mechanism that allows it to run forward or backward on it's own once loaded. We had to play with it a bit to get it to move forward but were able to get it to work. In used vintage condition, colors still bright but all stickers are missing and some paint scrapes and dirtiness on the edges. Measures - 2 1/8" tall (to top of console x 4" long x 2 1/2" across back wheels.
