Vintage Cesco Hospital Ware Enamel Sterilizing Dish

Vintage Cesco Hospital Ware Enamel Sterilizing Dish

$18.50
Moving into fall colors and tones for decorating is one of my favorite seasonal changes. Halloween is a nice focal point at the end of that timeframe as well. But, I have always, even as a little girl, been frightened by Halloween "spookiness". This year I have been on the hunt for items that could be used in Fall and Halloween decorating that are fun, light hearted and definitely unique. I have quite the collection brought together. Each item will be posted separately, accompanied by a few photos of vignettes with other items to spark your creativity.

What a fun find! This is a vintage white medical/surgical/dental enamelware dish that was likely used to hold sterilized instruments. It has the lovely, old style, very thick shiny white enamel with a black rim. It is a kidney bean shape and I immediately thought it would be a great candy dish for a Halloween mix of pumpkins and candy corn.

Very nice condition, considering it's age. There are a few spots along the rim that have roughness in the enamel and hairline marks and a few tiny chips in the black enamel rim, and a few scratches in the surface on the bottom. No dents in the enamel and it is quite sturdy. The blue stamp on the bottom indicates Cesco Columbian Made Hospital Ware. I am placing it in the 1960's, but that is just my educated guess!

Just a very practical size and wonderful vintage presentation without being so rough it should be relegated to non-food use. This is just the kind of piece you will find yourself using over and over.
