1940s Lusterware Luncheon Set: Hand Painted Japanese Tea Service

1940s Lusterware Luncheon Set: Hand Painted Japanese Tea Service

$85.00
Oh my goodness! This is such a special luncheon set with it's lusterware goodness and sunny design. It includes all the pieces you need to host a charming Spring themed tea party! There is a tea pot, cream and sugar, six cups and saucers and six luncheon plates. They all have the same design with the perky green and yellow lusterware presence. I can't decide if they are flowers are artistic renditions of sunshine! Either way they scream Spring and the rebirth of that season. It's also perfect for the Easter season.

My research indicates the back mark matches the mark for pieces made during WWII from GIfu Prefecture, for domestic use. That mark is a circular red mark which indicates Hand Painted Made in Japan with a three leaf design.

All the pieces are in amazing condition. Maybe they were every only used for display? The only aging I notice is there is some slight rubbing of the lusterware finish along the rims of a few of the cups. Otherwise, perfection. Both the tea pot and the sugar bowl have their original lids as well.
