Seeing America 1936 Book of Photographs and Descriptions of 102 Leading Sights of North America by James Gilchrist Lawson

$12.50
This is a really fun little book from the late 1930s that has black and white pictures and descriptions of what was considered to be leading sights of North America (102 of them to be exact!) It would be a perfect addition to the Independence Day mantel or shelf display, or in the Home School library. It looks great with the Faneuil Hall Wedgewood Plate that is sold separately.

"Seeing America" by James Gilchrist Lawson is a small, easy to hold, travel book, about traveling around the United States. It was published by Rand McNally & Company and is a First Edition. The author's note gives a nice synopsis of the book:

The interest of Americans in travel and traveling is well known. This book, the author hopes, will not only be a help in planning actual trips, but also a welcome guide in that pleasant diversion known as "armchair traveling". In every section of North America there are many notable sights, but because of space limitations it is obviously impossible to describe them all here. The selection includes at least one point of interest from each state, as well as representative sights of Canada and of Mexico and Alaska.

64 pages, including a multiple page index and a map in the front.

The book is in really nice condition. The cover has some signs of age with roughened corners, edges and some slight breakdown in the red paper covering along the binding and edges. The pages have colored with age but the binding is still very strong. All pages are in tact. No writing in the book.
