Vintage Bowers Old Fashioned Creamy Mints Tin

This striking Art Deco designed tin will be at home wherever you use it!

The tin has a pretty dark teal blue/green texture look background around the sides with wonderful gold script in an Art Deco style and the Bowers big B symbol on it on the front teal green center. The full title is Bowers Old Fashioned Creamy Mints. Mfg. by Earle S. Bowers Co. Phila PA - Ingredients: Cane Sugar, Water, Cream of Tartar, Peppermint Flavor - One Pound Net

Fresh from the 1950's, this textured blue Creamy Mints tin originally housed after-dinner mints made by Earle S. Bowers Co. in Philadelphia. Popular during the 1940's and 1950's, creamy mints were made with just three ingredients - sugar, peppermint oil and cream of tartar - and some water. Packaged in a jaunty little tin with wonderful script this canister has lost none of its appeal 60 years later. Now it would make a charming petite storage container for your kitchen odds and ends.

This tin is in decent vintage condition with just a bit of patina/wear from age. The lid comes on and off easily. The inside is super clean but it has three lines across the bottom - they aren't scratches, just lines? No rust at all inside. The bottom has the oxidation and darkening you see with tins of this age, but no rust and is really clean. Paint is scraped off underneath the lid from the action of removing the lid. It would benefit from a good, gentle cleaning. The top is dent free but there are small scratches and quite a bit of usage marks. It does fit securely on the container. The colors and graphics are still really nice.

Just a fun vintage find! I have a companion tin with a similar look, in lighter shades of the same color family. They look great together. If interested in both, I would offer 20% discount. Just send me a message.
