Vintage Brown Lusterware Teapot: Single Serve Ceramic Tea Pot, Made in Japan
$18.50
This is just so charming, and a perfect example of why buying vintage is such a fun way to keep the everyday items of the past working for us today!
This two piece tea pot with lid is just wonderful in creative details. The cocoa brown color has some lusterware like shimmer in the right light. There is a bright white inner lining and top rim that has a scalloped design around the top rim. The handle, spout and lid have design elements as well. The lid fits snuggly into the white rim and has a recessed button handle. Perfect size for brewing a single cup of tea.
These pieces are in wonderful condition. There are no chips or cracks. The cocoa brown color is distressed along the top rim but I believe that is the original execution, not paint loss. There is also a pin hole sized hole in the lid for venting steam. It is very clean inside with a very glossy finish. No crazing noted.
Made in Japan is stamped on the bottom. Likely 1930s or 40s piece.
Dimensions:
Tea Pot: 3" high x 2 1/4" diameter at base, 1 3/4" diameter at opening, 6 1/2" wide spout to handle
Tea Pot lid: 2 1/4" diameter, 1" high
