Vintage Single Serve Brown Luster Ware Ceramic Tea Pot

Vintage Single Serve Brown Luster Ware Ceramic Tea Pot

$20.00
This is just so charming, and a perfect example of why buying vintage brings stories to life. Included inside this little ceramic single serving tea pot was a note from the owner (I found this at an Estate sale). The note says:

This little tea pot was given to me by my Godmother, Aunt Anna, when I was little. If was old at that time, perhaps hers when she was little.
Marking says "made in Japan."

From this information I am estimating the age to be around the mid-1930s. I wish the family had kept it, but now it can go to your family and start a new chain of ownership.

This two piece tea pot with lid is just wonderful in creative details. The cocoa brown color has some lusterware like shimmer in the right light. These is a little scallop design around the top rim The handle, spout and lid have design elements as well. Perfect size for brewing a single cup of tea.

These pieces are in wonderful condition. There are no chips or cracks other than one small rough spot on the bottom of the spout. The cocoa brown color is distressed along the top rim and on the lid handle but I believe that is the original execution, not paint loss. There is also a pin hole sized hole in the lid that was from production as well. It is very clean inside with a very glossy finish. No crazing noted.
