Vintage Watercolor Field Study "Horses at Camp"

Vintage Watercolor Field Study "Horses at Camp"
$22.50
This series of water color field studies was found at an English flea market, as described by the individual that was selling them. I don't know if this is an accurate story of their province, but they are charming none the less and an affordable way to step into owning original art for your home or office. I would say that the colors and images represented in these pieces certainly are reminiscent of the English countryside, but they are also evocative of the rural area's around our home in Northern Michigan as well.
I call this piece, Horses at Camp as the center of the image two horses peaceful grazing while a car and trailer are in the background indicating they just arrived. The car and trailer have 1950s styling. The rustic split wood fence in the foreground of the image indicates this may have been an orchard or farmer's pasture at one time. This piece is painted on a lighter colored watercolor paper. The background has a soft peachy pink color. You can see the faint pencil sketch markings under the paint as it is truly a field study, not a studio finished piece.
This piece is slightly warped from the moisture of the watercolor process and you can see quite a bit of aging marks on the back of the piece. No signature or dating on the piece. This could be framed as is and hung in your gallery wall in all its rustic charm!
See the other postings for the Study of Trees and Houses, Fall Time Cabin, Hidden House, and Wonky Cottage pieces in this series.
