Vintage Cork Pops Wine Opener in Original Box

Vintage Cork Pops Wine Opener in Original Box

$30.00

Pair your “Cheese, Wine, and Bread: Discovering the Magic of Fermentation in England, Italy, and France” book with this retro chic Cork Pops for opening a WINE bottle!

Vintage Cork Pops Wine bottle opener in its (very cool) original box with instructions. The box is bright red with cream and black accents and graphics of the unit in action. The outside of the box reads "Pulls Wine Corks Fast! Insert Press.. Pop". Distributed by Berkshire Sales, 165 Jessie Street, San Fransisco Calif and 945 Yonker Ave., Yonkers NY. Manufactured by Stero Chemical Mfg Co. 70-13th St San Fransisco Calif.

Inside is the original Cork Pops unit. It is made of shiny gold plastic with a black plastic cover over the sharp cork piercing piece. The gold label reads CORK POPS. Around the top of the push button is KEEP FROM HEAT - DO NOT INCINERATE

The original instruction sheet is also included. The front copy reads:

See how easy it is to use CORK POPS…a marvel of ingenious American design…foolproof, leakproof, completely dependable. Precision-made with stainless steel needle. Sole moving part opens valve at thumb pressure, closes it at release, never fails. New-type capsule holds enough inert propellent to boost out 40 corks or more. Can’t impair the wine flavor in any way. CORK POPS gets the cork out WHOLE, no shreds, no spillage. Capsule is instantly replaceable. Follow steps on other side.

All the pieces are in amazing condition, considering this is a mid-century item. It does not appear to have been used. I do not know if it would still work,. Not willing to damage the look to see! This would display so nicely in your retro bar.

The box has some slight surface scuffing to the red on the corners and edges. There is one dark spot on the top as well. I think it may be remnants of the price tag and may clean up. The cream colored cardboard insert the holds the unit and the instruction paper have darkened with age but no rips or tears.
