These dishes were made by Century Service Corporation in Alliance Ohio. They are semi vitreous. Wheat was a very popular design in the midcentury, and that makes for beautiful fall dishes that celebrate BREAD! The natural wheat colors, accented with brown in the center design is bordered by a soft yellow band. There is a thin gold line on the outside rim and inside edge to demarcate the center design. These would be so perfect for summer or fall buffets or as accent pieces on a shelf or mantle. They would also be darling as a candle holder plate for a fall themed event.
These plates are in nice condition but they have been used. The center design is intact and most of the gold trim is too but there are areas of thinning and small breaks in the gold line. The mark on the back is very clear. It is in gold paint and cursive lettering. It indicates Century Service Corporation Semi Vitreous Dinnerware Alliance Ohio Autumn Gold. These plates are from the 1950s.
