Antique German Porcelain Happifats Baby Plates

Antique German Porcelain Happifats Baby Plates

$35.00
RARE!  This set of two antique child's Rudolstadt Beyer & Bock "Happifats" porcelain plates, made in Germany are from the late 1910's to early 1920's. The "Happifats" were based on the illustrations of Kate Jordon (1862-1926) , who created them for her children's books. The little scenarios the children are presented in are hilarious!

Plate 1 - White background with royal blue rim around the edge. The "Happifats" children are seen kicking a ball, doing laundry and getting set to do some gardening with a rake and overalls and, in the center, hugging and kissing! They have predominant red accents to the blue and green secondary colors. There are two strawberry images interspersed with the "Happifats" images.

Plate 2 - White background with royal blue rim around the edge. The "Happifats" children are seen reading a book with a dog, cradling a baby (or doll?) and, in the center, a repeat of the reading a book with a dog image. They have predominant green accents with blue and yellow secondary colors. There are three strawberry images interspersed with the "Happifats" images.

These dishes are in very good condition, with the babies still colorful and not too worn, considering their age. There are some fine surface scratches from utensils, most noticeable on the green reading a book image on the rim of the one plate. There is also a spot where the blue rim is not complete on the green plate. No chips or cracks, amazingly!

The backs are marked with Rudolstadt Made in Germany with the crown logo with a B in the center in red.

These would display so well in a nursery or farmhouse kitchen, but also would be a sweet gift for a baby shower or welcome baby item.
