Antique Playmates or Happy Hours of Sunshine Children's Book

$28.00
This is an absolutely adorable antique children's book entitled Playmates or Happy Hours of Sunshine by Lothrop Publishing Company. The bottom left hand corner of the cover also indicates it is the Christmas Series. The front and back cover is made of thick cardboard covered in bright green paper with a red cloth end binding. The imagery on the front is of children racing their doll carts outdoors. The colors of the front illustration are very bright and cheerful!

This book is an example of the typical children's book of the late 1800s, early 1900s. Hardcover with a color illustration and interior heavy coarse paper for the pages with numerous black and white illustrations. The book contains a variety of stories, poems and illustrations. Some titles include: "What if I Had", Elsie's Plan, A Scarecrow, Teaching the Chinese". There are about 40 pages (not numbered) and at least that many black and white illustrations.

It is becoming even more rare to find these books in readable condition. This book has scuffs, scrapes, worn and exposed edges and corners, age toned pages but the binding is tight and it is very readable. The inside front page has Mr. Harold McIntry written in pencil across the middle of the page. No other writing in the book.
