I originally picked up both these pieces separately. The box for the photographs and retro vibe and the puzzle for the great graphics on the box. Then I actually made the puzzle to make sure all the pieces were still included and I was really impressed with the experience. It was challenging to put together and really fun to see the maps take shape! The book also did not disappoint with a wealth of information regarding the USA from an mid-50s lens.

I put them together in a set:

1 - Vintage, Saalfield, Two in One puzzle of the United States with the world on the reverse side is a complete set and a rare find. The United States side has the 50 states, capitals, and their products. The graphics are kitschy, fun, and rare. The pieces in the puzzle could be up-cycled into magnets, jewelry and other projects, but this is a great puzzle for it's original use to teach children geography. The pieces on the US side are in the shapes of the states. On the reverse is a full world map with geographic, flora and fauna images and continent names. The pieces are large, for example Texas is 4 1/4" H and 4 3/4" L and substantial in thickness. The puzzle is in it's original box and the pieces are in excellent condition, they are just a bit ruffed on some of the corners. The box is also nice, with just some surface age and storage marks and one tear in the paper on one corner. The corners on the top and bottom are still firm. Likely 1950s. Dimensions: Box - 8 1/4" x 13" x 2"

Hardcover with blue cloth cover. 522 pages on heavy glossy paper with full index in the back. Divided into regional sections with maps, photographs and narratives of each written by the aforementioned authors. The book is in nice vintage condition with the only writing being the owners name on the front page. The cloth cover is tired and faded and the corners are curling in a bit. A bit musty smelling as well. Dimensions: 6 3/4" x 9 3/4" x 1 1/2"
