I couldn't believe this book was over 80 years old when I found it! It is so charming!

The Doggy Book is a linen (cloth-like softcover) children's book published in 1940 by Saalfield Publishing Co. #2331. The art work is by Eleanor Madsen and depicts the most proper of anthropomorphized dog characters as they go through their day and meet up with other animals in equally proper attire. There are many antics and "drama" to the dogs in the story and the story rhymes all the way through! My favorite page was the smug kitty sitting by her fireplace reveling in the chaos she created for the properly clad dogs!!!!

The book is in really nice, vintage condition. The cover has some slight edge and corner wear and the bottom left hand corner of the binding is torn about 1/8th of the way up the book. There are a few very small tears along the top front and back cover edge. Surface dirtiness, most obviously along the binding. The binding is still firmly stapled. Otherwise the pages are free from marks, rips and foxing. The colors in the cover and pages are still really bright and clear.

This book is a must-have for any collector of vintage children's books, particularly from the 1940s.
