This is such a great hangable, vintage chalkboard that is ready for your home school classroom, work from home office, kids playroom - or any other spot that needs a fun spot for message writing! There is no manufacturer noted on the board but I believe it is likely early 1950s from style and materials.
The board has wonderful graphics of a the alphabet across the top with 1 - 0 beneath. The letters are presented on a white banner that is held up by two trumpeting characters on the bottom corners. The colors of the design are red, white and blue. There is a white painted wood ledge for holding the chalk and eraser. A heavy white cord is attached for hanging the piece. The back of the piece is brown press board.
The board shows some signs of aging wear, especially in the center of the board where the chalk board surface is derogated. If you wanted to spruce it up with new chalkboard paint it could be done pretty easily. The red paint of the letters along the top has smeared a bit from cleaning products (I presume). The paint on the chalk ledge is chipped, but in a cool vintage way. It could also be freshly painted for a spruce up if that is your preference.
But wait there's more! Included with the board is a box of chalk and eraser from E-W-A Knowles that have the best graphics! The Crayon Box (as it is labeled, there is chalk inside instead) has a momma bear teaching her bear cubs with retro red and blue colors. The Eraser has the original yellow label with a little boy peeking around the corner from the graphics. The box has 6 pieces of chalk that range is size from 1/2" to 2 1/2" inches. The box shows it's age with the top flap being torn off and the edges roughed. One torn spot has been glued nicely.
The graphics and colors are really nice. The eraser is in really nice shape with no compromise to the label and fairly soft felt eraser surface.
