Vintage Christian Faith & Life Children's Book Set 1948

$16.00
What a beautifully illustrated set of two Christian Faith and Life book for the children in your life! One is centered on the story of a young boy celebrating his seventh birthday in biblical times in Nazareth. The second on understanding the meaning of The Lords Prayer. These are both display worthy and fun to read with your preschoolers and early readers, with a nostalgic touch. They would also be wonderful pieces to use for repurposing in vintage craft projects as the illustrations are very charming and portray children and families in 1940s style and Bible story images.

Details of this books are as follows:

Title: Let's Go to Nazareth
Author: Elizabeth Liggett Reed
Publisher: The Westminster Press - Philadelphia
Copyright: 1948
Illustrator: Margaret Ayer
50 pages

The charm of this simple storybook is in the faith filled presentation of a young Jewish boy celebrating his 7th birthday and learning to live out his commitment to a god focused life. The illustrations by Margaret Ayer are really detailed and presented in bright colored imagery, and black and white line drawings. My favorite illustration is on page 36; Tobiah and his father gathering grapes from the vineyard and learning about setting some aside for tithing.

The book is in really nice shape for its age. There is some staining nicks in the red border on the front cover and a few small surface tears along the edge and bent bottom corner as well. The inside pages are in really good shape - no stray marks or ripped pages. The staples in the bindings are still in tact and the binding tape is sturdy although torn on the bottom.

My favorite illustration is on page 31; babies of all ages and races presented as God's gifts.

The book is in really nice shape for its age. The bottom right hand corner of the cover has a bit of a turn up but no stains or rips. The inside pages are in really good shape - no stray marks or ripped pages. The staples in the bindings are still in tact and the binding tape is sturdy. The back cover has a crease near the binding.
