Vintage 1940s Ever Glo Magic Picture from the J.T. Citroen Company which incorporates a Mother Goose like figure in the center with a overall clad bunny on her back. They are strolling down the lane surrounded by flowers with a little house in the background. The imagery is all in soft pastel colors.
There is a fuzzy substance on the goose and bunny that make them "glow-in-the dark" in a dark room.

This was a popular item in the 1940s and the research I found is that some had a label on back that indicated that after exposure to light “portions of the picture will be luminous and visible in the dark. The darker the room the brighter the picture glows.” I tested the piece in a dark room and the goose was clearly visible! I tried to get a picture but my camera skills are lacking in a dark room!

This is such a sweet little piece! Added to the fun of the piece is the black frame, which appears to be leather with a gold design element. All the other similar items I have found have simple painted white wood frames that have been compromised over time. I think this is an upgraded frame from the 1940s based on the pieces holding the image into the frame and the hanging hardware. There are a few minor scuffs in the black leather. It is behind glass so the image is in really nice condition. The back is cardboard.

J.T Citroen made these nursery room glow in the dark pictures in the early 1940’s. They later teamed up with Disney to do a set featuring Disney characters.
