Vintage "Rime, Rhythm and Song For the Child of Today" Primary Song Books (2)

$25.00
I picked up these children's primary song books from an estate sale because I figured if someone loved the book so much that they kept the original 1940s version - and purchased a new version when it was reprinted in the 1970s - it would be just something a Warmth and Cheer customer would love!

Two copies of "Rime Rhythm and Song for the Child of Today"; by Florence Martin and Elizabeth Burnett; illustrations by Mariel Wilhoite.

From the About the Book - "May these songs be a source of pleasure to those who teach them and to the children who sing them."

Copy one - Published by Hall & McCreary Company, Chicago, Copyright 1942, Made in the United States. The cardboard paper cover has an adorable line drawing image of four preschool age children marching along singing, the first with a red drum, the second with red bows in her hair and the last two with red lips. The background is bright yellow. A smaller version of the front cover drawing is also on the back in the bottom left hand corner. The book is spiral bound with white plastic spirals. All pages are in tact . The front yellow cover has dirt marks and a few small tears in the binding. All the pages inside are in very good, vintage condition. There is some pencil notations on the first song page, but I find no other writing after that. Black and white line drawings are included on about a quarter of the pages. There are 80 pages in total and 83 songs. The front Classified Index is sorted by Type of Songs, the back Index lists songs by Title. Really cute!

Copy Two - Published by Schmitt, Hall & McCreary Company, Minneapolis. Copyright Renewed 1970, Made in the United States. The cardboard paper cover has the same adorable line drawing image of four preschool age children marching along singing, the first with a red drum, the second with red bows in her hair and the last two with red lips. The background is soft pink. A smaller version of the front cover drawing is also on the back in the bottom left hand corner. The book is staple bound. All pages are in tact . The front pink cover is quite clean with age related darkening along the edges and a K written in the top right hand corner (in pencil). A small tear in the bottom right hand corner. All the pages inside are in very good, vintage condition. No writing found in the book. Black and white line drawings are included on about a quarter of the pages. There are 80 pages in total and 83 songs. The front Classified Index is sorted by Type of Songs, the back Index lists songs by Title. Really cute!

As far as I can tell, these are the same book in contents, just a different color for the cover and different method of binding.
