Vintage Hand Painted Heather Lane Pottery Country Kitchen Tile

Vintage Hand Painted Heather Lane Pottery Country Kitchen Tile
$28.50
When I saw this piece, I thought it would be perfect for a Farmhouse Kitchen - either on the wall or used as a trivet/tile on the countertop. It is from Heather Lane Pottery in Grand Rapids Michigan and likely produced in the early days of the studio in the early 2000s based on the information from the Estate sale.
Heather Lane Pottery is a pottery studio located in Grand Rapids, Michigan specializing in custom and one of a kind personalized pieces. Today, their retail location is located in Periwinkle's Boutique in Ada, Michigan. All pieces are hand crafted by their potter and hand painted by their artisans. They have been in operation since 2003 with a change from the original ownership in 2024.
The larger square tile has an imperfect edge that is painted dark blue with white dots. An inner beaded ridge defines the boundaries of the quirky little country kitchen scene with the red and white diamonds on the floor, blue striped wallpaper and a yellow dotted curation at the window. Visiting this darling scene are two green chickens, a yellow bird and a cat. They seem at home on the chair and amongst each other. Finishing the look is a blue checked tablecloth on the table that sports an ironstone look pitcher with fresh flowers. The hand painted scene on the plate is in a free hand style. The colors are blues and greens with white, red and yellow accents. The glossy glaze is applied to create a textured surface. Really charming
The tile is in very nice vintage condition. There are no chips or cracks in the clay and no issues with the design. The back has Gritten (Sp?)Van Noord inscribed in the clay - the artist's name, I presume.
Just really unique and charming, however you use it! It was hanging on the wall in the kitchen at the Estate Sales where I found it. There is a hanging claw glued to the back. This could be removed if using as a tile was preferred.
Dimensions:
10 3/4" square, 1/2" deep
