Vintage Hand Painted Hungarian/Ukrainian Folk Art Wooden Lacquered Bank

Vintage Hand Painted Hungarian/Ukrainian Folk Art Wooden Lacquered Bank

$30.00
This darling little accent piece that could be used in so many ways, including it's original purpose - a bank! It has a obvious lettering on the bottom that I believe is the artist's signature thus not able to be translated. The design and colors lead me to believe it is Hungarian/Ukrainian/Russian. This would make a wonderful vessel to use as a gift card or money gift. I have a friend that uses vintage banks in this manner and I think it is such a clever idea!

The piece is really pretty. It is made of turned light wood with an easy to remove top. The background has been left in an unstained color.
The hand painted design of the base starts with a row of gold scallops on the bottom and than continues with a center red berry design that encircles the piece and is bordered with two golden "staves". The removable lid has the golden scallops on the top rim and an elaborate red flower painting on top, encircled with bright greenery. There is a coin slot in the middle of the top. The entire piece has a lacquer like finish protecting the painting. Love it!

The piece is in excellent condition with just a few slight spots of usage wear, one along the top rim of the lid and one on the lower stave. There are scuffs on the bottom from surfaces as well. The inside is mark free. The markings on the bottom are m. KuiB Ykpaiha T.C. There are double dots over the "i's which may indicate Ukrainian. There is old sticker residue on the bottom as well.
