Vintage Imperial Records Square Dances Album Set

Vintage Imperial Records Square Dances Album Set

$28.00

This Imperial Records Square Dances For All Album set is such a piece of Americana! The introduction to the records says it all:

Once again, the square dance has taken its place in the home and in the dance places of America...the fiddler and the caller are much in demand. So Imperial offers this album of square dance calls for your pleasure and entertainment. Note: Two numbers are without calls so you can do your own "calling".

The heavy cardboard cover has bright red, blue and yellow with silhouettes of a pair of dancers with the headline Fenton (Jonesy) Jones Caller, With and Without Calls.

The front cover of the set has a full page of instructions of the Summary of Square Dance Basic Steps and the detailed dance instructions for four dances; Cage the Bird, Sally Goodin', Oh Susanna and Texas Star. It is labeled Album FD-32 - Copyright 1949 Imperial Record Co. Inc.

There are two vinyl records included with the songs being Smash the Window, Tennessee Waggoner, Texas Star and Oh Susanna. These are all from the band The Texas Dandies. There are two other sleeves that do not include records.

The 9 3/4" vinyl records appear to be in very good condition (I have no way to play them). The sleeves holding the records are also in good condition. The cover is in fair condition, with scuffs around the edges and a tear at the base of the front black binding. The colors of the cover art are very vibrant and look really nice on display! The back cover is plain green cardboard and is in good shape; there are some stray ink marks on the cover. The binding is still quite tight and holds the sleeves in nicely. The top and bottom edges of the binding are ruffled.

This is just a very special piece of 1940s Americana vintage.
