Vintage Jerywil Firkin Snacks Bucket with Lid, Handle and Red Plastic Liner

Vintage Jerywil Firkin Snacks Bucket with Lid, Handle and Red Plastic Liner

$48.00

What a fun, fun find! This is a Jerywil Firkin style wood bucket with hand painted red accents and Snacks in cursive across the front. It has the typical firkin style wood slats for the sides, curved wood trim pieces and stapled edge trim for the top piece. The bucket also has a curved carrying handle, attached by wood pins, and a bright red, plastic liner on the inside.

Of course, this would be perfect for display at the cabin, in the den or rec room - or - wouldn't this make the cutest ever lunch box! You would be the talk of the cafeteria!

The piece is in generally fine, vintage condition. There are scrapes and age marks on the sides of the bucket and top of the lid, but nothing that compromises the usefulness or display worthiness. The lid fits snuggly and the handle feels sturdy for carrying. One side of the trim piece that is on the top of the bucket, has a break where the wood peg attached. My assumption is that this was done to re-glue the peg into place. It does feel very sturdy now. The repair is not noticeable as it is blocked by the handle end.

The inside red hard plastic liner is in really nice shape. There is the smallest of cracks on the edge. No other blemishes noted and the four brads holding it in place and still sturdy. The bottom indicates the JERYWIL brand name.

My research tells me the following regarding the company:

Jerywil was a wood craft company in the 1940's that produced baskets and a lot of other wood made items, such as hand painted tole trays, buckets and more. No evidence they are in business anymore.
