I spy items all the time that end up making perfect components for gift sets. This is a perfect example. I thought this would be a fun gift set for a young child, or adult, in your life that was obsessed with puppies/dogs. It could also work well as a end of year Pre-School Teacher Gift or Veterinarian set for someone that appreciates a vintage vibe and teachings on this topic. The set includes two Playskool tray puzzles with puppy themes, 1965 A Big Golden Book entitled Whatever Happens to Puppies? and six wooden blocks that spell PUPPY and have a dog stamp. It would easy to wrap up in a box and present with a heartfelt handwritten note.
The set incudes:
1 - A set of two vintage and collectible pressed wood tray puzzles by Playskool; Playskool Puppy Love and Playskool Puppies. The first is Puppy Love and is in bright blue and yellow with white and black accents with 9 pieces for ages 2 to 5 years. Marked in the upper left hand corner as Puzzle #165-1. The second is Puppy Love and is a brightly colored scene of a young child with four puppies romping outdoors with 18 pieces. Marked in the upper left hand corner as Puzzle #335-04. These puzzles are Made in the USA. Both have all the pieces and are in really nice condition, with just some degree of edge wear on the pieces. The backs are very clean with no stray pencil or crayon marks. Each measures - 9 1/2" by 11 1/2"
2 - A Big Golden Book, "Whatever Happens to Puppies?" by Bill Hall, pictures by Virginia Parsons. Copyright 1965 by Western Publishing. A large profile picture book with hardcover that tells the story of puppies and there eventual grown up lives. Adorable illustrations. The binding is still tight and all the pages are included, no rips or tears or writing in the book. The cover does have some surface staining and darkening with age, especially on the front and back cover. Rough corner on the bottom end of the binding. Front cover is slightly bowed when laying flat. Measures - 9 1/2" x 12 3/4" x 3/8"
3 - 6 wooden children's blocks. Letter blocks that spell PUPPY with letters on 2 sides of the blocks and pictures on the other sides. One block has a dog picture. Used vintage condition, colors still bright. Measures - 1 1/4" to 1 3/8" square.
