$350.00
I had the opportunity to procure some pieces from the Estate of a German Art Dealer. She had an amazing collection and this is one of her collected pieces. It is an oil painting by the Serbian artist, Stevan Vukmonavic. The biographical information I was able to find is as follows: Stevan Vukmanović was a Serbian painter born in 1924, known for his landscape and town scenes often depicted with fairy-tale-like colors and shapes. He studied at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts and was a member of the Munich Secession. Vukmanović painted landscapes and town scenes, often focusing on ordinary street scenes with figures and a vibrant, sometimes surreal color palette. He studied under master teacher Charles Crodel at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. He passed in 1995.
This piece definitely represents the description found in his biography. It presents historic buildings in the business or government section of Munich in the heart of winter. The imposing multi story buildings with the mullioned windows, interesting roof lines, arched entryways and other decorative elements are shown against the winter sky. In front are trees without leaves and snow covered ground. It is so striking!
There is texturing on portions of the image. Other than a few very small spots of scuffs in the paint, the piece is in amazing condition. It is framed in a beveled wood frame with a gray wash. It accents the piece well. There are some scuffs and nicks in the wood and what appears to be slight paint splatters. All this could be cleaned up fairly easily, I believe.
The piece is painted on plywood which can be seen on the back. There is a corded hanging wire. It is not behind glass.
Dimensions:
Image: 25 1/2" x 29"
As Framed: 30" x 34 3/4" x 2"
