Vintage Framed Print: "At the Cradle" by Frantz Charlet, Etched Vivitone

I thought this was a sweet little vignette. In the bottom left hand corner the print is indicated to be "Etched in Vivitone" and the piece has the title, "At the Cradle" with the artist's signature of Frantz Charlet.

The original of this piece was likely from the early 1900s. My research indicates that "etched in Vivtone" most likely refers to an old print or reproduction created using a process associated with a company called Vivitone, Chicago. This "Vivitone" likely relates to the historical context of the printing or etching and was most common in the late 1920s.

My research indicates - Frantz Charlet (1862–1928) was a Belgian painter, etcher, and lithographer. An Impressionist, he was one of the founding members of the group "Les XX". He studied at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels from 1872 until 1873 and again from 1876 to 1881; among his fellow pupils there were Eugène Broerman, François-Joseph Halkett, Théo van Rysselberghe and Rodolphe Wytsman, and his teacher was Jean-François Portaels.

The print is very nice as it has been protected under glass. The surrounding neutral accent paper around the image has likely darkened with age. The frame is a slim profile wood frame with nice etched designs. There is a light gold finish on top of the stain. There are quite a few areas where the edges of the frame are roughed up and the design is rubbed off. A touch up with Restoring finish would really do it wonders. The corners are still quite square and could use some updated fasteners to make them even tighter. The back is a simple cardboard piece and the print is held into the frame with nails. All could be improved - or left as is to keep a more authentic vintage feel. There is a rudimentary hanging wire.
