I suspect this was a memory painted after a trip of a lifetime to Europe! It is entitled Little Church of Steinkirchen and I was able to find multiple images of it in my research. The best description I found was -

This chapel is nestled near Steinkirchen in Chiemgau, Bavaria, Germany. The picturesque landscape surrounding the chapel adds to its charm, making it a perfect spot for reflection and worship. The architecture of this religious building is truly remarkable, showcasing intricate details and craftsmanship that are synonymous with churches in this region. Its design reflects the rich history and cultural heritage of Bavaria.

The piece was painted by A. Westman and has the feeling of being completed from a favorite photograph. Not a professional piece, but charming, nonetheless. It show the church on a beautiful summer day with bright blue sky and the alps in the background. The shading of the church building showcases it architectural uniqueness well. There is a fair bit of white canvas showing through the paint in the tree line and lower mountain area. As other parts of the painting have thicker paint, I think this was an intentional effect used by the painter.

The piece is framed in a light oak frame with a deep bevel. Not custom, but beyond basic. The piece is held into the frame with just a few nail and could use some TLC to tighten it up. The frame is in really nice shape, just a bit dried out from storage and could use some teak oil conditioning. I had it sitting on my mantel at home for a few months before I could bring myself to part with it and add it to the shop. I will miss it!

The piece is signed in the lower right hand corner, A Westman, but no dating. The age of the canvas board and the style of the frame leads me to the 1980s. The painting is in wonderful condition with no noted stray marks.
