From a recent Estate Sale of an avid boater comes this incredible hardcover book entitled, "Chapman Piloting Seamanship and Small Boat Handling", originally written by Charles E. Chapman. This 54th edition from 1980 was authored by Elbert S. Maloney.

It is a substantial volume of 640 pages and was published by Hearst Books. The book is contains graphs, charts, illustrations and photographs in both black and white and color. The contents list 32 Chapters from Nautical Terms to United States Coast Guard and everything in between offering insights and guidance on motor boating and steamships. There are even chapters on Yachting Customs and Etiquette and Boating Clothing and Uniforms. A must in the library of any serious boater! So display worthy.

In researching this book, I found the following review - "I call this "The Bible of Boating." Not much that isn't in this book, from reading charts, navigating, seamanship, you name it. The book is updated regularly and is worth getting every five years or so because technology updates so quickly. The basics of sailing and boating are good forever, so old editions have their place on the bookshelf."

The book is in very nice vintage condition. It has a red faux-leather cover with gold graphics on the front and binding. Only the slightest of corner, edge and cover wear noted. No extraneous writing, no rips or tears in the pages, no off odors.
