You know my penchant for luster ware - finding this pitcher added to the collection well! This is a really nice example of the lusterware decorative pieces that were being produced in Germany during the 1940s. The lusterware finish has stood the test of time and is still quite brilliant. The colors are in a muted palette of soft orange and blue on a cream background. The two things that make it most special are the blue and brown ombre finish along the top rim and the flower bouquet design on the front.

The pitcher has a finely shaped handle as well.

This piece is in very nice vintage condition with only the slightness of chips along the base and no cracks or crazing. There are some bumps in the glaze along the sides of the piece that appear to have been there since manufacture. Stamped MADE IN GERMANY R. 3079. on the base.
